Dr. Terry Allen, DDS
Dr. Terry Allen is a dedicated dentist offering over 40 years of experience to the residents of Kauai. Born and raised in Seattle, Washington he attended the University of Washington Dental School graduating with a Doctoral of Dental Surgery.
His sense of adventure and fun-loving spirit landed him on the front page of the Seattle Times as the dental student known for barefoot waterskiing to school. A love of water has been a continued theme in his life from living on a houseboat to serving as a Lt. Commander in the United State Navy where he aided sailors serving in the Vietnam War.
After his military duty, he opened a full-service dental clinic that included general dentistry, periodontics, oral surgery, orthodontics and a full dental lab in Seattle. He would spend his vacations in Kauai and fell in love with the island’s beauty. In 1988-2014 he operated his own dental clinic in Kalaheo and on June 8th, 2015 he opened Lihue Dental.
His passion for community and contribution had him start the first free dental clinic for children in Seattle, which has grown to five clinics presently. He truly cares and believes that all children can grow up cavity-free and have the right to great care. A long-time Kauai resident, he volunteered his dental services for the Red Cross after Hurricane Iniki and served as President of the Kauai Dental Society and the Poipu Beach Rotary Club. He is also a lifetime member of the American Dental Association (ADA), Hawaii Dental Association, and the Kauai Dental Society.
A family man, he married his soul mate, Marilyn, over 40 years ago and together they have raised three, successful daughters and have five grandchildren.
Turning dreams into reality. Dr. Allen loves working with his hands and construction. He spends his mornings and weekends building his dream-home in Kalaheo; an off-the-grid, Italian-style villa surrounded by over 3,000 tropical hardwood trees he planted himself.
